2013 COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
On Thursday, August 15, 2013 Trace restaurant shed the spotlight on positivity, offering an inspiring perspective on ambition, tenacity and fortitude. Two students from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Seattle were recognized by the public, their families, fellow students, and faculty for the results of their essay submissions and a “Black Box” cooking competition among five of their peers. The two winners received scholarship money toward furthering their education.
Sergio Santillanes, beginning his 8th quarter at The Art Institute, received an award of $1,500. First quarter student and top winner of $3,500, Ernesto Fuentes comes to the Art Institute after cooking in the Navy.
Trace Executive Chef Steven Ariel, Tiffany Derry, a graduate of The Art Institute of Houston and contestant on Bravo Television’s Top Chef, and Art Institute students prepared a fantastic dinner that showed off the great products of the Pacific Northwest fused with their geographical perspectives.
